The Pine Grove Community Church was built as a nondenominational church in 1896. Its design is said to have been based upon a theater. The seating is provided in straight-backed chairs that sit on slanted floors. The Church building is best known for its unique architecture and exceptional acoustics. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Methodist ministers conducted services in the building for over 50 years. Then the Mennonites were given permission to use the church for their mission outreach. Their efforts continued for more than 40 years until they outgrew the building.

In the 1990s, the church sat vacant and untended, and neighbors became concerned. They formed the Pine Grove Community Church Preservation Society, Inc. This group became owners of the property in 2001. Since then, the Preservation Society has steadily made repairs to the property. The building is now available for public and private use, and the Society hosts an Annual Meeting with an Ice Cream Social each August and a Holiday Service each December.
